Skilling India in Floristry
Skills change the world, improve standard of living, provide an opportunity to earn a better livelihood and stimulate economic growth. In India, traditional education has the approach of a one size fits all mindset. In the face of global skills crisis, competitive job market and changing work dynamics there is an urgent need to introduce skill-based courses. To foster skill development across the country and transform the skill landscape, Agricultural Skill Council of India (ASCI) in association with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) an apex skill development organisation, endeavours to create a sustainable and enabling skill ecosystem by facilitating vocational skill training along with the Sector Skill Councils and Training Partners.

NSDC through IndiaSkills… the country’s biggest skill competition, aims to identify skilled talented youth, to prepare them for WorldSkills competition. IndiaSkills is a platform that emphasises practical learning and encourages the youth to showcase their talent. The competition is held every 2 years and eligibility criteria is between 17 – 22 years. Here young participants take the first step of discovering the power of skills that gives them and the winners of Indiaskills receive:

A biennial competition, WorldSkills is the gold standard of skill excellence. It inspires young competitors to excel at skills by reaching the global standards of excellence and helps them turn their passion into a profession.
Institute of Floral Design (IFD), through its academic partnership with ASCI, aims to promote skilling in the field of Floristry and has introduced an Industry relevant skill-based program. IFD has been involved with training and mentoring competitors for State, Regional, National and WorldSkills competitions since 2017. Currently undoing training at IFD is the competitor for WorldSkills 2022 to be held in October.
